The film is an official remake of the 2006 Telugu film Stalin directed by A. Its shooting was started in mid-January 2013 and was scheduled to release on Eid 2013 but postponed to avoid clash with Chennai Express. Jai Ho was released on January 24, 2014, on 3900 screens in India and on around 650 screens overseas.[5] It received mixed reception from critics.
